Public Health Department Orders Halt Of SoCal Gas’ Cleanup Of Porter Ranch Homes


DEAD VOTERS, TONIGHT AFTER “PERSON OF INTVMENT.” PAT: SoCAL GAS AND THE L.A. COUNTY HAD A MEETING ABOUT THE CLEANUP OF PORTER RANCH. THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT ACCUSES THE UTILITY OF SHODDY WORK FALLING THE RECENT GAS LEAK. ALL THE WALLS ARE BEAR, ALL OF THESE TOYS HAVE BEEN CLEANED. REPORTER: YESTERDAY SANDY GOT HER HOME READY TO BE CLEANED BY PROFESSIONAL CREWS, PAID FOR BY SoCAL GAS. THAT WAS BEFORE THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH TOLD THE UTILITY TO STOP CLEANING HOMES AFFECTED BY THE GAS LEAK BECAUSE IT WASN’T BEING DONE PROPERLY. THEY SHOW UP AT 9:06 A.M. AND I KNEW THEY WERE GOING TO. SHE SAYS THE CREW SHOWED UP THIS MORNING EVENSHOW SHE CAN KELLED HER APPOINTMENT. THEY IGNORED WHAT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT — THE GUIDELINES. THAT AND THEY SHOW UP ANYWAY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO GET THIS OF WITH AND THEY WANT EVERYONE TO MOVE BACK HOME EVEN TO THE IT’S NOT SAFE. WE SPOTTED CLEANING CREWS AT A SHOPPING CENTER IN PORTER RANCH AFTER DROPPING OFF WORKERS IN NEIGHBORHOODS. DESPITE THE STOP WORK ORDER, SoCAL GAS SAID THEY REACHED OUT TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAD CLEANING SCHEDULED FOR TODAY AND TOLD THEM THE SITUATION, AND LEFT IT UP TO THEM WHETHER THEY WANTED THAT CLEANING TO GO ON. DAVID BAILEN HAD HIS HOME CLEANED YESTERDAY. HIS PERCEPTION OF THE JOB. FAILURE. PUBLIC INSPECTORS WERE AT HIS HOME. THE INSPECTORS FOUND THAT THE CONTRACTOR WAS NEITHER EQUIPPED NOR TRAINED TO HANDLE THE JOB. WE WERE ABOUT TWO HOURS IN. I SAW ENOUGH DUST PUSHING, VACUUMING, SEMI CLEANING OF THE WINDOWS, AND I WAS DONE. CRAWFORD WORRIES HE AND HER FAMILY WILL BE FORCED OUT OF THEIR HOTEL IN TWO DAYS BECAUSE THE COURT ORDER ONLY GIVES THOSE WOULD RELOCATED 48 HOURS AFTER THEIR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TO MOVE BACK HOME. SHE SAYS HER THREE-YEAR-OLD SON EXPERIENCED NOSE BLEEDS THE LAST TIME THEY TRIED TO COME BACK IN FEBRUARY. UNTIL THIS HOUSE IS CLEAN, I DON’T FEEL SAFE. DON’T FEEL SAFE FOR MY KIDS.
