  5. what do you mean a WFPB diet is the best for weight loss without calorie restriction? without calorie restriction by definition you cannot lose weight…?

  16. Interesting that someone calling this(epidimiology) "science" and not anecdotes . When all the science that supports a plant based dient is 99% epidimiology that is observational IE anecdotes. We shouldn't only want weight loss, but fatloss and muscle gain if we wan't to live long and stay healthy. Having a ton of high oxolate foods (legumes & leafy greens) ie spinach that has so much oxolates that you won't be able to absorb any of the calcium in them. You will however get kidney problems, if you also add soy to this you have goitrogens that will affect your thyroid function and might lead to hypothyroidism. This nutrient & protein deficient diet is a sure way to keep people malnurished and sick.

  19. why dont fruitarians have all these health issues that vegans get if they dont follow all of your food recommendations when they have way lower intake of all the nutrients (iodine, zinc, selenium, b12, sodium) that vegans have to eat certain foods to get enough of? is it possible that everything you know and teach is wrong Michael? or are the anti nutrients in plants that arent designed to be food just that strong? please reply..

  22. I started a plant-based diet 2 1/2 years ago and although I lost 20 lbs at the beginning, it crept back on. I need to lose 80 to be at my healthy weight, so I can't say the initial progress was all that astounding. I'm really looking forward to this book. I've already tried some of the tips from the talk he uploaded recently and some of it worked to curb my eating habits. No weight lost yet but fingers crossed there's more in the book that will help. It's a huge struggle. I'm tired of hearing "if you just go plant based, the weight will fall right off." Not all of us are that lucky.

  24. I lost almost 20 lbs on a WFPB diet, and it was easy! I actually surpassed my goal of 15 lbs. I graduated from grad school in May, 2019…had gained weight in college…sedentary lifestyle studying, fast food, etc…I have a friend who is obese, trying to lose weight, and on BP pills…I try to tell him about WFPB diet, but it's to deaf ears. Last night, he makes a salad of iceberg and topped it with ham (packaged), 2 eggs, bacon, and cheese. You can lead a horse to water, but unfortunately, you cannot make them drink. It's sad 🙁

  28. I've had my copy on order since I first heard about it. I can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you Dr Greger your work cuts through the hype and dietary misinformation and gives the honest facts. I wish more Dr's here in the UK would take notice. My Dad is recovering from triple bypass surgery and the dieticians are giving him advice that is contrary to the facts you have published. I think they are trying to kill him off. It is so annoying as he won't listen to me as I don't have a nutrition qualification. I don't need one i just need to read your work.

  34. Sounds like a bunch of fat logic. Saying a calorie of x is not like a calorie of y is like saying 1g of chocolate doesn't weigh the same as 1g of broccoli. If calories, which are just a measuring unit and do not exist physically, are soooo inaccurate, why do most people lose or gain weight if they eat based on calorie recommendations and actually track what they eat, not just guess it. We can't guess calories well just as we can't guess the water temperature well. Of course 1g of cholocate has a different effect on the body than broccoli but it still is 1g. Maybe due to different absorbtion you could still say one absorbs 100 calories worth of a certain food (for the people in the back: not the calorie itself,a calorie is not a nutrient in itself) while another person only absorbs 95, the different still is not so big to throw the cico concept off completely.

    Anecdotes aren't proof yet many studies are based on the guesstimates of people who did not track their calorie intake accurately so I would not call them proof either.

  35. Dr. Greger the book is fantastic but I purchased the audiobook in iTunes and I can not find the PDF you keep talking about!!! This is the only down side. I paid $40 for the audiobook and have spent the last hour looking for the elusive PDF?????? Please help!
